Jason Forbach

Jason Forbach, whose “Commanding tenor”- Kansas City Star “has charisma in spades” - Washington Post, has an illustrious career across the opera, symphony, and Broadway stage.  Currently, Jason is starring in A Wonderful World: A Louis Armstrong Musical, originating the role of The Crooner on Broadway.  He also starred as Raoul, Vicomte de Changy in The Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theater and Enjolras in the 2014 Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Les Miserables, where he reprised the role he played on the 25th Anniversary National Tour. 

Famously, Jason gained national attention when he stepped into the lead role of The Baker at the last minute on opening night in the acclaimed 2022 Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Into the Woods alongside Sara Bareilles after a triumphant run at New York City Center, and again on its National Tour opening at the Kennedy Center with Stephanie J. Block.  The Daily News described his star turn as “excellent.” 

Jason has performed regionally with companies such as Washington D.C. Shakespeare Theater Company, Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival, Paper Mill Playhouse, 5th Avenue Theater, The Kennedy Center, North Shore Music Theater, Bucks County Playhouse, Sacramento Music Circus, and Theater Under the Stars.  He has sung on the concert stage at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, as well as headlined with Omaha Symphony, Greensboro Symphony, New Jersey Festival Orchestra, Las Vegas Philharmonic, Knoxville Symphony, Gulf Coast Symphony, Abilene Philharmonic, Plano Symphony, and on the opera stage with Boston Lyric Opera, Fresno Opera, Opera Boston, and Central City Opera.  He was also a regional semi-finalist for the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has appeared on T.V.’s  “Law and Order: SVU,” “FBI: MOST WANTED,” “America’s Got Talent,” “Good Morning America,” “The View,” and “The 68th Annual Tony Awards”. 

He has three solo albums, A New Leading Man, Revolutionary, and Remembering to Dream, all available on Spotify and iTunes. He has appeared on original cast albums of An American Victory and Song of Solomon on Broadway Records and The Music Teacher on Bridge Records.  His directorial credits include It Might Be Hope at Minneapolis’ Lab Theater and Band Geeks at Everblue Arts Festival. He also assisted during a season with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival.  He is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter and wrote and directed his first feature, "The Delicate Medium".

Jason graduated with his Bachelor of Music from the University of Missouri-Columbia, receiving the Chancellor’s Emerging Artist Award that year.  He completed his Masters with academic distinction at New England Conservatory in Boston and has been a guest lecturer for New York University, Harvard University, American University, Sam Houston University, University of Texas, Westover School, Avila College, Johnson County Community College, DePaul University, University of Washington, Cornish School of the Arts, The Norwalk Conservatory of the Arts, University of Missouri and University of Connecticut, among others. He also maintains a voice studio in New York City.
